I was reading another blog and there was a comment about there being nothing better in the world than family, friends, food, wine and travel… and last night we put that philosophy into practice. Our friends Julie and Mark travelled down here on holiday and as they both had important and special birthdays this year we took them out for a meal to our favourite, the Imp… and to remind you….
We were warmly greeted by Phil, hugs and manly hand-shakes all round and then the difficult task of deciding what to eat. As usual there was not only the menu but an interesting ‘specials’ board which included duck with roast vegetables and a sweet chilli sauce… mmmm, that sounded rather good! However there was an extra Olympic special menu

Decisions, decisions, and while we considered, Mark and I tucked into a bottle of very nice Shiraz and Bari had a pint of Butcombe’s Rare Breed, and Julie had an exciting soda water and orange juice!
So… starters of garlic and chilli prawns for me and Mark and antipasti platter for Bari… I forgot to take any photos because the prawns were beckoning me! And tehn on to the main event…

with creamy mash, rich red wine gravy and vegetables… Bangers and mash!

We had a simply wonderful evening, absolutely perfect! Thanks Phil!
(And did we tick all the boxes? Food – tick, friends – tick, wine – tick, travel – tick… yes we did!)

Lois, wonderful story of friendship and camaraderie is rewarding. Good appetite … and thanks for sharing …
