I posted recently about two dreadful tragedies at sea, the little four-year old boy who was swept away from his parents near here in Somerset, and the two families who had a tragic accident with a canoe in a sea loch in Scotland. Three children were drowned and one man, one of the fathers has still not been found, eight days after the awful event.
I read today that a father and little seven-year old son drowned yesterday in Majorca whole on holiday, two weeks after a grandfather and granddaughter aged five were swept away by a giant wave in Portugal… My heart goes out to their families… such a grievous tragedy…
… And then I read about the young thirteen year-old girl found alone on a boat, not on the sea but on the Norfolk Broads (large stretches of inland water in Norfolk, connected by rivers and waterways) The girl was on holiday on the boat with her parents… their bodies were found yesterday between Salthouse Broad and Wroxham Broad. Poor child, poor, poor child…
Water is not always a friend.

Totally sad! Makes you appreciate how lucky you are to have your children safe and that we should take nothing for granted.

Indeed… and luck too, I’m sure no-one thought they were behaving in a risky way, and were doing things they had done many times before.
