WRITER
‘Never go empty handed,’ a family phrase whenever we are visiting anyone. I was invited to my friend Lilias’s beautiful flat overlooking the sea, for coffee along with other friends. Wanting to take something because she is always such a generous hostess, providing home-baked goodies and drinks, I looked round our garden. The wet summer has ensured we have very little flowering but we have a profusion of wonderful herbs, so I made her a small posy.

It looked so pretty, and Lilias was very pleased with it – I thought she would put it in the kitchen, but she found a nice vase and put it in the sitting room to scent the air!
