Building bridges

When I was teaching we often used to go up into the nearby Mendip Hills and do team-building exercises; our young people came to us from a variety of different schools and didn’t really know each other, and we didn’t know them. So having some fun together, even on a miserable autumn day was great!

The outdoor centre would organise different activities – such as getting from one part of the area to another without touching the ground, building bridges across pretend chasms and carrying some object which would help us get across ‘the ravine’! Sometimes we had to curry a jug of water and whichever team completed the course with the most water left in their jug was the winner! The prize? A round of applause. We did this many times over the years, but this gang was one of my favourites, great characters and wonderful young people!

Shall I go? Go now?
Heeeeeeelp!
It’s your turn!

Me and my team – we’ve done it!
