Jura

A couple of weeks ago in The Dolphin, our pub, we’d had a couple of lovely pints of Otter and it was my turn to get them in;  it would be our last of the evening, and for some reason, instead of buying beer, I bought us each a scotch.

Now this is unusual for two reasons… we love whisky but usually drink at home where we have a small but varied selection. The second reason was that it actually was Scottish, not Irish, which is our preferred whiskey.

I bought us each a Jura… and it was lovely. We like our whisky or whiskey with just a little water, and it was a wonderful wee dram which we had never tried before – although we had often seen the island itself on the distant horizon across the sea from Antrim..

On our wedding anniversary I made up a hamper for my beloved  and among the cheese, biscuits and spices was a bottle of Jura.. so when we came home from the pub last night after our customary couple of pints, Bari decided a glass of the water of life would be just the thing!

It has a gentle smokey, peaty almost heathery taste, a real treat to be savoured!
