Clynelish is another gorgeous whisky; it’s made right up on the north-east coast of Scotland in the little town of Brora. My mum’s sister Beryl worked for someone who had an estate up there and he very kindly allowed her, husband Ken and my parents to stay in his wonderful home up there… where they discovered the local distillery and purchased several bottle of golden nectar.

We moved to the west country but Donald and my mum Monica, often returned to Cambridge where we’d lived, to stay with Ken and Beryl. Ken and Donald were brothers-in-law, but they may as well have been brothers, looking similar and being close friends and whenever they were together they enjoyed the odd wee dram of Clynelish!.
