February 10th – Chinese New Year

It’s year of the snake!! Yes, Happy New Year, it’s the start of the new lunar calendar!

新年快樂

There will be great celebrations across the word in Chinese communities everywhere. This year it is the year of the water snake, not only are there twelve animals associated with the Chinese calendar. The twelve animals are rat, cow, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, chicken, dog, pig and there are other attributes attached to the signs, metal,  water, wood, fire, metal and air. This is also the year of the black snake because e there are colours attached to the months  white, black, green, red and brown.

I discovered that I am a White Metal Tiger, my husband is a Red Fire Dog , and my children are a Black Water Monkey and  a Green Wood Dog… now I need to find out what that means!

Ha Ha Lois, what coincidences we do keep having indeed! First we both posted about the moon, and then about Peanuts cartoons in 9 October 2012.

Then in 20 October, as I was responding to and commenting on your post on John Field, I was also listening to Classical FM broadcasting a piece of chamber music that sounds like that of John Field. What a coincidence!

We also have many coincidences and similarities in our gardening experiences and in growing begonias and then barely growing them.

Now, we both posted on the same day about Chinese New Year!

Without further delay, Lois, please come over to http://soundeagle.wordpress.com/2013/02/10/soundeagle-in-chinese-new-year-celebration-spring-festival-lion-dance-traditional-culture-and-architecture/ for a feast of your life on Chinese culture and celebration! 🙂
