I first came across Simon Lynge when he was supporting Raul Malo on a tour; Raul was sensational, of course, but Simon was tremendous, too, a really interesting and different singer. I bought his CD which I continue to enjoy.
Simon is from Greenland and is very proud of it; Greenland, Kalaallit Nunaat, is a country I guess many people know little about but I’ve been fascinated by it since reading ‘Miss Smilla’s Feeling For Snow’ by Peter Høeg which is partly set there and has an Inuit woman as the main character…
Back to Simon… he’s so talented and if you haven’t heard of him or heard his music then you have a treat in store!
His début album, The Future, was wonderful, but, not one to rest on his laurels, Simon has a new venture, to produce his new album independently from a record label. I have had to publish my own novels independently although it was because I had no other option, and also it didn’t cost me anything except hard work and the cost of publicity material. For Simon, producing a new album is much more difficult. He explains:

I have loads of songs, I have the studio and musicians lined up, all I need is YOUR HELP to make the album and ensuing marketing campaign a reality, so not only you, but also those humans currently unaware of my existence and music will have a chance to discover it – this means making music videos, online/print advertising, and touring.
I have decided to make this album independent from a record label, but that doesn’t mean by myself it means WITH YOU…
$35K is the minimum I need to cover recording, mixing, mastering, manufacturing of CD’s and vinyl plus send out all the rewards to backers. If I raise more I might have money for a music video, marketing and touring…FYI my debut album had a $250K marketing budget..
