When you really like something, book, food, music, film, you want others to like it too… and I don’t just mean a Facebook ‘like’ I mean a genuine enjoyment and love of whatever it is. That’s part of the reason for gossiping and a good reason, to share something enjoyed and perhaps to help the writer, cook, artist, actor gain greater success, as a way of saying thank you for the pleasure you’ve received.
You may know that I love the music of The Mavericks, and have met so many lovely people and life-long friends through my interest; I have been to live gigs, I have bought CDs and DVDs, and there are aspects of them and their music which has been a great inspiration to me in my writing.
A week or so ago I went into our local record store and was delighted to see there were two copies of ‘In Time’, The Mavericks latest wonderful CD,. They were tucked away behind other CDs so I rearranged them slightly:
Poor Emily Smith, I hope she didn’t mind snuggling up behind the boys; however the situation didn’t last long. I went into the store again today and there were no CDs on the shelves; I was pleased because at least it meant two of them had sold, but disappointed there were no more on display. I was going to go to the counter to ask whether they were getting more in, when as I passed the racks with the charted albums I noticed this…
No longer on the shelves, now in the charts, and there were five CDs now! I shall keep my eye on the situation!
