This is possibly the best ice-cream in the world, it is certainly my favourite! The company started just over thirty years ago but we first encountered it in 1995 when we went to Northern Ireland for the fist time.
The company was named after the grandmother of the person who started it, and as my grandmother was also called Maud, it is special to me for another reason; it is truly delicious yummy and the only problem is you can never eat enough of it. The company concentrate on making the ice-cream, cafés, restaurants, and others sell it,so wherever we go we’re always on the look-out for the sign.
My personal favourite flavour is Poor Bear, which is full of sticky honey-comb pieces; at first I misread it as Pooh Bear’s, which endeared it to me even more! Maud’s has all the flavours you would expect, vanilla strawberry, and chocolate… except it is strawberry and cream, Belgian chocolate, mint chocolate, chocolate and mallow… and then there are the other flavours, from crème brulée to Nutella to Guinness (it is Ireland after all!)
If you go to Ireland, look out for Maud’s… and then enjoy!
