It’s so strange how some things stick in your memory so vividly, and other things which are much more important just vanish. I’m not talking about remembering something when you’re wandering up and down the aisles of a supermarket, or remembering someone’s birthday, or even remembering a particular event. Sometimes events are so exciting that they pass in a blur.
It’s interesting to recognize what triggers memories as well. The photo is of a very old house in Oxford just by St Michael’s at the North Gate tower, the oldest building in the city. I have been to Oxford three or four times, but the first time was when I was going to see a particular band playing; I wandering around on my own before the gig, and as I came up to St Michael’s tower, built in Saxon times, and stood gazing at it, thinking how amazing it was, I noticed one of the members of the band standing right by the tower. He put his hand on the old stone and stood for a moment before sauntering off past this old house. Now whenever I see the tower,or this old house, I am almost transported back to that first time; I can almost feel the sun on my shoulders, can almost hear the noise of the bustle of people, can remember everything in such clear detail. I am such an absent-minded person, and yet some memories are crystal clear!

That is a great-looking house! 🙂
