Tomorrow I’m off to the Netherlands!

I am so lucky to have a very dear friend living in the beautiful Netherlands, and even luckier that we are going to be spending some time with her and her family over there.

We met through our love of music, in particular the Mavericks, and we have been to quite a few gigs together. We actually became friends while the band was split, and we had to content ourselves with following Raul Malo the lead singer on his solo tours…. I’m joking we were utterly thrilled to see Raul!!

Elly and her husband live in a beautiful farm in a lovely area near the pretty little town of Nistelrode. We have had such fun there, visiting all sorts of interesting places, and just enjoying being in each other’s company, chat, chat, chat, laugh,laugh, laugh!

Every time we visit we have a wonderful time, the Netherlands is such an attractive, friendly country, and we feel so at home there I think our two countries have a lot in common, having had a past of sea-faring and trading across the world… they also very kindly gave us a king when we had run out of any of our own, William III of Orange.

One place we have been to a couple of times is the fairy tale wonderland of Efteling; if you ever have a chance to visit you will be enchanted, but it is huge!

I’m looking forward to visiting the Netherlands, but more than that I’m looking forward to being with my friend!

We are looking forward to see you again.Make sure to pack some warm clothes.Holland is cold at the moment.We’ll be at the airport waiting for you and then a short visit to Volendam!
