I have now joined my husband on the 5:2 diet, eat for five days, sensibly and healthily, fast for two on 600 calories (well 500 for me because I’m a woman.) My husband has lost 14 pounds and I’m so proud of him.
Being imaginative and careful in what you buy is the key, most crispbreads have low calorific value, but some are much lower than others! Ditto low or 0 fat yoghurt and the usual things one might buy to reduce those wretched calories! My husband doesn’t like salads or cold vegetables very much, so all those lovely things which can fill you up are not to his taste… but look at the salad I made him from what he does like:
He likes tomatoes and red peppers, he likes pear, he doesn’t mind a little bit of red onion, I sneaked in a couple of slices of baby leek and courgette, some capers, a little wine vinegar as dressing, everything really thinly sliced, and he loved it! it looked so pretty it fed the eye before it fed his stomach!
