Happy father’s day

My Dad… Donald, often known as Snick, was brought up in Cambridge, served for seven years in the parachute regiment during the war, became a scientist, moved with the family to the west country where he worked, retired and played golf.

I was so lucky to have the father I had and even though he died nearly twenty years ago he is constantly in my thoughts and I so often speak about him… it’s the same with my mother, she’s constantly with me. I don’t believe in ghosts or the afterlife except in our own memories, and my parents live on in mine.  My children don’t remember him but I hope they have an understanding of him just as I feel I ‘know’ my grandad who died before I was born because he was so often spoken of.

My children are lucky to have a wonderful dad, so, happy father’s day, to my dad, my grandad, my husband and all dads everywhere!
