I actually don’t know what this moth is. It was sitting on our doorstep while we were on holiday by the sea in Yorkshire. It was grey as you can see, was about 2-3 inches across and about one to one and a half inches long, it had shaggy wings but whether that was because of wear and tear or because that was just the way its wings were I don’t know. If only I had realised it was probably thirsty I could have saved its life… as it was it sat there all evening and in the morning it was gone. Maybe it had flown away in the dark, or maybe a creature of the night had taken it!
Does anyone know what it is? It isn’t really called the shaggy winged sea-moth, I just made that up!
