Ambidextrous… ambitoe-strous?

Following my accident with my kitchen mandolin, which nearly sliced the top of my thumb off, I have had to use my left hand for more things, which is no problem because for most things I am ambidextrous. I can’t write left handedly, but I’m sure I could if I practice.

While thinking about this I thought about how I used to use my toes for things too, I could wiggle each toe independently and was able to do all sorts of things. a party trick was to unite people’s shoelaces under a dining table, and I was even able to retie them – left lace to right lace of course, great fun! When  I was pregnant it was really useful to be able to pick things up from the floor without having to bend over so this dexterity did have a practical use too. I don’t use my toes very often these days, but maybe I should keep practising… jut in case I need to untie anyone’s shoelaces!
