My next book, Flipside is set in 1990 for various reasons, and it is set in Oldham, a Lancashire town on the edge of the Pennine Hills where I lived for many happy years. The main character, Jaz arrives in Oldham at New Year to take up a job in a school there. Her brother, Kiran, is very anxious for her safety, as several women have been murdered and he worries about her. Oldham is on the edge of Saddleworth Moor where the notorious murders Ian Brady and Myra Hindley disposed of the bodies of the poor children they had murdered. Oldham is also quite close to Hyde in south Manchester where the equally notorious doctor, Harold Shipman murdered so many of his patients.
My characters Jaz and Kiran are talking about his over-protectiveness and he mentions the Moors murders and Harold Shipman…. My stories set in 1990, Harold Shipman wasn’t arrested until 1998… Ooops! Luckily I realised and cut out the reference; how silly I would have felt if I had left it in!

Hi Lois, thanks for following my blog, I’ve rummaged around in yours and loved reading it but I can’t find anything about you, do you have an ‘about me’ page? I’d love to find out more about you (if that doesn’t sound to creepy!)

Oh… I thought I had… I had better remedy that straight away! I have had a few problems with WordPress… sometimes because of my lack of tech skills… so maybe I accidently deleted it when I was trying to update something! Thanks for mentioning it! You’ll also find me on facebook!
