Am I a little dyslexic? I sometimes wonder because I have so many times totally misread something. I’m a great reader, words are my thing, and as a teacher I had to read millions and millions of words… so how is it that sometimes I still misread things?
It used to happen in exams; I would read and reread the question carefully, think, plan, write my answer diligently and then later, sometimes too late when the exam had finished and the paper handed in, I would realise that the question asked was not what I had answered. When I realised that this was something that happened more frequently than a normal blip, I began to take real care to really read instructions carefully.
I have just completed all my MOOC assignment, and have been pleased with the work I have done… until today, when reviewing my last assignment which I submitted last week… guess what? I realise that I totally misread the question. In fact, I did not read the question at all, almost as if I didn’t see it, and just looked at the explanation of how to do the exercise… and then totally did my own thing.
I guess I’m feeling annoyed but laid back; I’ve done well enough to ‘pass’ the course, the course was only done for fun, I’ve learned a lot, a career doesn’t depend on the result… but how come I have these ‘blind’ moments? Herumph!
