The Power of One is a movie based on the book by Bryce Courtney starring Stephen Dorff and Morgan Freeman among others; I have watched it s many times… and have got to a stage where I’m beginning to pick holes in it… it is the story of a young English boy growing up in South Africa and how he becomes in the movement to fight apartheid. There are five actors playing the part of P.K. from an infant Nigel Ivy, to a toddler Brendan Deary, a little boy Guy Witcher, a teenager Simon Fenton, as well as Stephen Dorff as the young adult. The outstanding star to me is Guy Witcher; he was so talented I wonder that he hasn’t gone on to be a star in other movies too. Maybe he just wanted a private life!
It is a good film, although it has met with some criticism, but there are some amazing scenes, but the thing which remains to haunt long after the credits have rolled is the music. Here is ‘Mother Africa’ by Hans Zimmerman, you can see Guy Witcher with Morgan Freeman:
