Grove Park in Weston-super-Mare, has a long history; it was bought by the John Pigott of Brockley in the late 1600’s and where they built a summer cottage above the wet and marshy area which is now Weston town centre. The Grove as they called their wooded land, was held by the Pigott family until the outbreak of World War 1 in 1914.and was near the old rectory and Weston parish church.
Grove Park has a bandstand, opened in 1891 and it also has an attractive memorial garden for Jill Dando, the very popular and much-loved TV presenter who was murdered in 1999 by an unknown person.
A dull day, but war enough to sit outside with a cup of tea
