I have no idea where this recipe came from… if it was from you, thank you very much, and I hope you don’t mind me reposting it!
Ingredients:
- Pint glass coarse flour
- Pint glass white flour
- 3/4 pint buttermilk
- Enough salt to coat the bottom of a pint glass
- Enough soda to coat the bottom of a pint glass
- Enough butter to coat the bottom of a pint glass.
Method
- Mix the dry ingredients by hand in a large bowl.
- Rub in the butter with fingertips.
- Make a hollow in the four and butter and add the buttermilk.
- Make your hand into a claw shape and mix everything together but don’t over knead the dough.
- Turn out onto a floured surface and shape it into a flat round then cut a cross on the top.
- Bake the loaf in a hot oven at 190°C for about 35-45 minutes.
- Knock the bottom and if it gives a hollow it is done.
- Wash the glass and fill with beer, have a slurp.
- Slice the loaf, spread with butter (not margarine) eat and enjoy
You can miss out number 9 in the instructions if you don’t like beer!!
