People who visit the Tower of London will have seen the ravens which live there, and which must continue to do so, according to legend, in order for the kingdom to remain safe. There was some bad news on the raven front this week, a fox had got into the Tower and killed two of the eight birds… there are only six left! There have been daring escapes or attempts at escape from the dreaded castle ,and there have been attempted break-ions to steal the Crown Jewels… but breaking in to get the ravens?
The building of the castle began at the end of 1066, a matter of a few months after the Norman Conquest of England, and was used as a prison for over 850 years and has held many famous people, some until their deaths, some more fortunately until their release.
