I’ve posted a few photos I took of Sarah Greaves wonderful exhibition in Salford Art gallery; it quite literally took my breath away, and if only I lived there I would visit it several times more. All of the exhibits were marvellous, but the one I just loved, and felt very moved by took up the whole of a wall; I can’t tell you what it was called, or what it meant, or why I was so taken with it, but it was just extraordinary, and standing staring at it, I became totally lost in it.
The picture I took of it just does not do it justice, but may give you an impression of the effect:
The round objects tumbling down the walls are pomegranates, with Armenian writing inscribed on them and little pictures and illustrations; although fixed, the tumbling dried fruit gave a sense of movement, almost like a waterfall… a fruitfall, I guess! it was strangely poignant, though I can’t say why.
The fabric had interesting designs and patterns.
It was strange, but wonderful… I wish I could see it again. Sarah is an incredibly talented artist.
