English group’s party… mostly cake!

Although I spend most of my time writing, I also have other activities, one of which is teaching English conversation as a volunteer with a group of people whose first language is something else. The main objective is communication, and we have lots of different ways in which we practice conversing and communicating; our lessons are structured and planned, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have fun as well!

It was our last lesson before Christmas so we had some lovely treats, mostly home-made, including this wonderful cake below, made by Kohinoor:-Photo0695 I made some shortbread Christmas trees… unfortunately they got a little browner than I hoped… I was trying to wrestle the top off a jar of mincemeat at the same time!Photo0696 We also had some simply delicious poppy-seed cake, a Polish traditional recipe for Christmas, made by Basia…. mmmm, my favourite!Photo0698We were also visited by the new Bishop of Bath and Wells, who only received his appointment today… very honoured, I hope he enjoyed the cakes!
