Unusually we have two parties today, one we have been to at lunch time, and one we are going to this evening. It is unusual because our friends don’t seem to have parties, and we haven’t had one for ages. We are lucky enough to be invited to my friend Elly’s party in the Netherlands each year… wow, what parties she puts on!! The other regular party on the calendar is the family Christmas party, which is hosted by our cousin’s in Cambridgeshire.
The party this lunch time was given by friends we have met thorough the U3A, the University of the Third Age. They have a wonderful house overlooking the Bristol Channel, and after chat,delicious food, there was a recorder group, some funny monologues and then my husband’s jazz group.
The party this evening is given by my book-club friend and this afternoon I went round to help her prepare, and that is part of what I really love doing, helping get ready for a party! Organize the crockery and cutlery,lay the table, help prepare the food… tasting some of course!
I’m sure we’ll have a great time, but the before is as enjoyable as the during!
