Picture my lunch!

There has been a bit of a flap in the news recently because a chef complained that diners took pictures of meals they were about to it… shouldn’t he be flattered? These days meals are so beautifully presented which I think shows respect for the ingredients and the diners, and also shows the talent of the chef too. So what is wrong with people appreciating that? Why is it showing off for someone to take and then share a picture of what they have eaten but it isn’t showing off for the chef to make his dishes into a picture?

I went out for lunch today, a pub lunch, where else but in the Dolphin. I had a steak baguette, my cousins had fish and chips and fish cakes and chips both with mushy peas, and my husband had scampi and chips. Our meals arrived and just looked so inviting we all admired them (but only very quickly) before we started eating. The way our food was presented just made it look delicious… and lo and behold, it was delicious! Obviously, as we were in the Dolphin we knew it would be good, and it was!

I didn’t take a picture, you will just have to imagine my crispy golden baguette, bursting with rare steak and lovely red onions, and with golden chunky chips, crispy on the outside, mmm fluffy on the inside, a little pile of salad, a pot of mustard mayo, beautifully arranged… a picture! But you will have to imagine it!

Oh, and in case you are wondering… a pint of Otter!
