Saxlish

I’m going along to a new group today, Saxlish! Apparently we’ll be discussing aspects of English, its Anglo-Saxon origin,  with reference to its earlier forms and in particular to the dialects and accents of southern England… Wow! This is just up my street, it sounds really interesting!

We’ll also look at the origin of some English words and their history… looks like I might have some interesting ‘Word of the day’ blogs to write soon.

Just looking at that first lines I wrote, I see there are lots of Anglo-Saxon words in it:

I am go(ing) to a new group today.

Also ‘be‘, ‘English‘, ‘it‘, ‘early‘, ‘and‘, ‘in‘, ‘England‘, ‘also‘, ‘at‘, ‘is‘ ‘up‘… the skeleton of our language!
