Masterchef… the final!

Don’t worry, if you have been watching the cookery competition, Celebrity Masterchef, and missed this evening’s final but are going to watch it on iplayer, or you’ve recorded it… don’t worry, I’m not going to tell you who wins. I will tell you that you will really enjoy the programme, and as has been throughout this series there are some surprises, some funny bits, and some exciting bits too!

What really intrigued me, and it seems to have been more noticeable in this series, that all the contestants, but particularly the finalists, all who are pre-eminent in their own fields and have won many accolades and awards, all of them without exception were really nervous, really cared, and really, really tried hard to cook wonderful food. Obviously they wanted to win, although they were all so pleasant to the other contestants, but they were all visibly shaking, quite often near tears, and patently trying their absolute hardest to win. I guess I somehow expect celebrities, famous people, to be confident and self-assured and a little bit cocky… I know the episodes are all edited and edited to present what we see in a certain way, and no doubt they could be edited differently to show other aspects of  those involved, but I still get the feeling that the genuine emotions of the contestants shines through. In earlier rounds there were a couple of people who started off full of bravura, as any of us might, but it was fascinating to see how they changed and became more serious and more committed to what they were doing.

I actually did guess who the winner was going to be… I wonder if you watch it if you will guess too?
