The new Roasting Room

The best coffee shop and our favourite in Weston-super-Mare, is the Coffee House; it has everything you could possibly want. Brilliant coffee – with interesting guest coffees available, delicious cakes made by a local cake-making lady, and sandwiches, panini, teacakes, extra thick toast etc, super and very friendly and very efficient staff, a lovely seating area, upstairs, downstairs and outside, books to read, and, if it’s not misty,a view of the sea!

I met my friend Trish there today as we are wont to do and as usual we took our drinks upstairs… and oh, my goodness! There has been a revamp, and sitting pride of place is a coffee roasting machine, like a friendly gleaming monster. The air is full of different, complex and interesting smells, and we were told all about the different coffee beans waiting to be roast, from Nicaragua, from Brazil, and from other tropical places. The décor has changed and is very retro with a film theme, great posters, and nice little images sprayed straight onto the walls. For a while we just sat, turning around in our seats, admiring the new look, before we returned to the reason for being there, lovely coffee and a good old natter (oh and Trish had extra thick toast with butter and marmalade and I had the most divine gluten-free carrot cake!
