Iron: Man… known as the Iron Man is a statue by Antony Gormley, an artist known for the Angel of the North and many other figures made in a variety of materials. This leaning man can be found in Victoria Square, Birmingham. He is 20 foot tall, and this includes his feet which are buried beneath the pavement. He weighs 6 tons and his actual lean is 7.5° backwards and 5° to the left.

I didn’t know about this man, thanks for the tip! I like the Gormley stuff. Always enjoyed driving past the Angel on the A1, and walking among all the figures on Crosby Beach. My dog would sit looking up at them and wait hopefully for a treat lol

I’ve never seen the Crosby figures… next time we’re up that way (visiting cousins) we must detour! i saw them from a ferry on the way to Ireland, but only far away!

The name Gormley conjured up the word gormless that my father used to describe someone that was a dim- wit. Have you ever heard the word used or is it out of favour now?
