The last pictures from my visit to the sand sculpture exhibition in Weston-super-Mare, on the beach; he 2014 theme was ‘Once upon a time’
Once upon a time there were two star-crossed lovers, Juliet and her Romeo. As told by Shakespeare, the two young (very young) people came from the wealthy and powerful families of the Capulets and Montagues… they accidentally cross paths, fall in love, and due to the carelessness of a number of people, and fate, they end up killing themselves. Shakespeare wrote it in the last decade of the sixteenth century, and it is possibly his most famous play and has been performed, reinvented, and copied in numberless ways… perhaps this fictional performance is the worst ever:
One of the sculptures from the exhibition portrays two characters, and I have no idea who they are… however, the sculptor has made an extremely interesting and detailed piece:
