The bishop and his cell phone

Dublin (5)I am not sure if he actually is a bishop, or a saint, but we passed him as we were on an open-top bus tour of Dublin. He just looked as if he had a cell phone in his hand. We whizzed past so it isn’t a very good view… but we did have an excellent view of the city.

We had arrived in Dublin on a Wednesday, and were due to fly out on Friday so on the full day there we took a bus tour. It was very reasonably priced and included travel on ordinary service buses, so we were able to go from the airport to the hotel and then into the city and just hop on and hop off buses whenever we wanted. We picked up te tour bus in O’Connell Street which is the amazingly wide and elegant main street in Dublin. The bus took us over the river and round and about many of the famous sights and places of the city and as we had a brilliantly sunny day it was just wonderful!

In the afternoon we took the bus again to visit the Zoo, and it was interesting hearing the commentary for a second time, as there is so much to see and look at its difficult to take it all in just once. It gave us a real sense of the city, so once we were on foot again it was easier to find our way around and to know what direction things were. There were so many places we want to go back to, and next time we go (maybe when the mavericks are performing there!) we will try and catch up with places which caught our attention. Those places include – and here comes a long but not complete list – the National Museum of Archaeology & History, the National Art Gallery,Trinity College, Christ Church Cathedral, St. Patricks’ Cathedral, the Guinness Storehouse and The Old Jameson Distillery. We also whizzed past the Dublin Wax Museum, the Museum of Modern Art and Kilmainham Gaol, which was in use between 1796 and 1924.

Meanwhile… I wonder who the guy in the mitre with the phone is?
