Fated!!

It’s strange how something quite simple can make such an impact on your life, and change the course of events. One evening when we were still living in Oldham, and my husband was out with his band, the phone rang. It was someone Oldham police station ad someone asked for my husband to ring him back, and that phone call changed our lives.

The person who had rung was a friend of my husband’s who wondered if he would be interested in joining another band, based at the police station… my husband went along, rocked with the band, and that was followed by several fantastic years with what came to be known as Driving Force. That in itself was a change, and we made good friends with the great guys in the group. One of the songs they played was by an American band called the Mavericks… and the rest as they say… is great music,  great friends, great gigs.

So what did hearing Driving Force play a mavericks number, which triggered my interest in them, what did that bring to our lives? great friends, dear friends all across the UK, Europe and North America. great friends who we have stayed with, partied with, gone to gigs with, had fabulous, funny, lovely brilliant times with! We have travelled… The Netherlands, Coventry, Glasgow, Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff, Oxford… We have discovered other music through the mavericks, other musicians, other bands, other genres…

It has literally changed our lives… and now, guess what? The Mavericks are returning to the UK next February and March… Watch this space as the excitement mounts!!!
