The TV was on and it was a rerun of ‘Top of the Pops’ and there was Gerry Rafferty singing, ‘Stuck in the Middle With You’ with his band Stealers Wheel. I have heard him singing that song so often, and even more often ‘Baker Street’ with that amazing saxophone riff, but I have never ever seen a picture of him. It was interesting to see what he looked like; I heard a programme on the radio about him not that long ago, and talented as he was, he had a troubled life. he was born in Scotland in 1947 and died relatively young at sixty-three.

A great singer and a great band, I always loved Gerry Rafferty’s voice. It is such a shame that he died so young.
