Judge Judy and executioner

If you recognize the quote I’ve used in the title then you’ll be a fan of Hot Fuzz, the hilarious movie starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost about the goings on in a small Gloucestershire village, the murderous goings on! It’s a parody of police procedurals like Midsummer Murders with the slant of buddy cop action movies. No matter how many times I see it, I still laugh.

I was helping a friend move house and as we took his stuff into his new flat, his new flatmate had Hot Fuzz on the TV with the classic scene where Danny has rescued Nicholas, appearing to stab him – blood everywhere, except the blood is ketchup!

Nicholas: What are you doing?
Danny: Saving your skin.
Nicholas: This is murder!
Danny: It’s not, it’s ketchup.
Nicholas: I’m not talking about that, I’m talking about the others.
Danny: What others?
Nicholas: The others the NWA have murdered.
Danny: That’s not true.
Nicholas: It is!
Danny: Dad just said it was his special club, he… I thought it was about rapping people on the knuckles and sending them on their way.
Nicholas: There are skeletons back there!
Danny: I don’t know nothing about no skelingtons.
Nicholas: What did you think was happening?
Danny: Not this!
Nicholas: It’s Frank. He’s appointed himself judge, jury and executioner.
Danny: He’s not Judge Judy and executioner.

I’m glad to see it makes Number ! in the 25 funniest buddy cop movies:

The movie is very British… about two police officers in a very rural part of England…there follows a police chase, a shoot out, goodies and baddies, but all with a real English west country accent… if you have the chance to see it I hope you’ll find it funny!
