Mrs Walder was an elderly lady my Aunty Audrey knew; I’m not sure how she knew her, she wasn’t a relative so what the connection was I have no idea. Mrs Walder had this recipe for fluff which is something we had as children which my mum made to her own recipe, simply and tasty and very cheap.
- 1/2 block of jelly – any flavour
- 1 small tin of Carnation (or similar) evaporated milk – kept in the fridge for 24 hours before for the best results
- water to make up the jelly
- make up the jelly with 1/4 pint of hot water then cool until it is beginning to set but still runny
- whisk the Carnation milk then gradually add the jelly continuing to whisk
- pour into a serving bowl and chill
You can serve it with fruit – for a real 1950’s feel serve it with tinned fruit
