I don’t need another…

I think I must have been a squirrel in a former life because I have this urge to collect things… I don’t mean like a collection of things (although I did collect stamps when I was young) When I have something I like, for example cookery books, I can barely resist getting more, even though I surely have enough with foods from almost everywhere in the world, certainly from Albania and Australia to Yugoslavia… but nothing from Zaire, Zanzibar or Zambia.

I have a set of measuring spoons… so I can measure spoonfuls of ingredients for recipes; I actually have two sets, one from 1/4 teaspoonful to 1 table-spoon, and the other set is for tiny amounts, a pinch, a dash and a smidgen… yes, I actually do have a set for those amounts. So I don’t need any more sets of measuring spoons… if for some reason I can’t find the set I have, well, I can look in the cutlery drawer and get out a teaspoon, a dessert spoon or a table-spoon.

So why is it, when I go into a cookware shop, or the department of a store which sells cookery utensils, do I find myself gazing at the sets of measuring spoons. I have some! I don’t need any more! But they are just so lovely…
