I went to Bristol last night to The Fleece, a venue I’d not been to before and what a great place it was! I’m not sure what it was in a former life, a pub maybe, a warehouse? I must investigate! It was quite a large space with a stone flagged floor and a long bar running the length of the room, the facilities and cloakroom were at the back, and at the front was a stage; it was the right height, high enough for everyone to see the band, but not so high that there was a distance between performer and audience.
I had come to see the Icelandic singer Ásgeir and I knew there were two supports. Support acts can be a bit miss or hit, and in this case they were both hits. The first was Tenterhook, a singer/song writer who I think is from Leeds, and the second was Lay Low and Icelandic singer, Lovísa Elísabet Sigrúnardóttir. She was just amazing!! Fantastic, I really enjoyed her set and if she tours again I will definitely try to get to see her! So talented and quite individual, she sang a variety of songs in her short spot.
Have a look at Lay Low:
