A Winter’s Tale

I studied Shakespeare’s great play The Winter’s Tale… but great though it is, I’m afraid i didn’t enjoy studying it… I suppose appropriately for the title it left me completely cold. It was originally thought of as a comedy, and then a romance, but I was never really moved by it; it appeared was one of Shakespeare’s later plays and was dated about 1611-12.

There couldn’t be a greater contrast than between this play and a song written in 1982 by Mike Batt and Tim Rice and sung by David Essex…
