Apparently, reflection is the change in direction of a wavefront at an interface between two different media so that the wavefront returns into the medium from which it originated… I didn’t know that, and I’m not sure I understand it now that I do know it!! Maybe if I hadn’t given up science in the third year…

Throw a pebble in a still pond and watch the effect. Some waves reflected from the sides can add to the original waves and others can cancel them out. Reflected electromagnetic waves is how radar works as well. Did you know that mushrooms are the internet that trees use to communicate? Don’t know where lichens come in tho.
