I think I am the most tolerant of people usually… but there is one thing which irritates me beyond measure… background music. Even if I like the actual music which is playing (and I can’t remember when I did) I can’t abide having it playing while I am shopping/eating/drinking/in a lift/in a waiting room.
I took my beloved husband out for dinner today as it is his birthday. Oh woe; we were sitting right under a speaker which was playing sentimental, trashy Christmas songs. I love Christmas, I love carols, I quite like even some quite corny Christmas songs… ‘Wombling Merry Christmas’, ‘When a child is born’, ‘Driving home for Christmas’… I don’t mind them, but I don’t want them when I’m trying to buy something, eat lunch, have a drink in the pub, go up ten floors in a lift etc… and I particularly don’t want them blasting in my ears when I am trying to have a lovely birthday meal with said beloved husband.
Background music? Bah! Humbug!

They start putting Christmas music on my favorite Oldies radio show starting in November. It is totally insane and infuriates me and all my friends. Baaah Humbug!
