Our house… 2005…

HOUSEThis is our house, but taken a few years ago; now the pale blue wall is dark blue and so is the double gate and all the bushes and trees have grown. On the left you can see the red leaves of the smoke bush… bush??? It’s a mighty tree now, we have to keep cutting it back otherwise our house would disappear. The small yellowish shrub is now perfectly round and much bigger and the wall behind it has vanished behind a berberis and a lot of ivy. There is a tree on the right in this picture, it was a flowering cherry and was glorious in the spring time… I say was because sadly it began to die and had to be cut down before it fell on anyone. The path on the right leads through a little alley to the road beyond where the village hall, the Victory Hall is. The red roof that you can see belongs to a very nice family; cricket-mad boys and a mum who cooks the most wonderful smelling food. When we are out in the garden and the gorgeous aromas drift over the fence it is torture! So our house, ten years ago.

Less than ten minutes… about the time it takes to pull a proper pint of Guinness!
We wanted to live in the village because the school is literally round the corner, a two minute walk in the other direction… but yes there was a Dolphin factor!
