Here’s the house, where’s the story?

DSCF6501I saw this poor neglected house and immediately thought there was a story behind that unloved front door…  But what is it? Every time we walk past it I think about it, but as yet no tale has emerged. It should be an elegant and attractive property, if it was well-maintained as its neighbours are; the area is becoming more popular and prices are rising… this will be a wonderful home for someone… but what’s the story?

Why didn’t you knock on the door and ask them. Some people are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Too poor to fix it up and too poor to move. Houses cost money to maintain even after they’re paid for.

This is the intriguing thing… it could be either of those things… or it could be that a speculator has bought the property and is just waiting for the right time to sell… Who knows… a friend of mine lives near there, I shall ask her!

I completely renovated my house over 20 years and the cost is about 3ooo to 5000 dollars a year for 20 years and there is more I could do. I have argued the benefits of owning verses renting for years but there is no clear winner financially. I asked my Dad when I was a kid what the difference was between us and the rich and he said they have more money Duh!.

I just always feel that if i own it’s like an investment but if I’m renting I’m paying into someone else’s investment fund! It may very well be different when I’m old and don’t want the worry of owning… 🙂

We’re not practical enough to renovate… or imaginative!
