As we walked home a few minutes ago, at about 11:25, we reflected on how lucky we are two have two great pubs in our little village. Our ‘local’ is the Dolphin for various reasons, nothing to do with the other pub, the Ship.
Tonight was quiz night in the Ship; we had popped in for a drink at just after ten on Monday and there had been a wonderful beer on, Hedge Monkey by Glastonbury Brewery, and tonight we decided to sample it again and take part in the Ship pub quiz. Sadly there was no Hedge Monkey, so we had Wadworth 6X which is a very decent beer but I don’t particularly like, and then Hobgoblin from Wychwood Brewery, which was fine, a great beer. We enjoyed the quiz; the first round had twenty-five questions and there was a picture round of ten celebrity photos… we got 32 for those two rounds… our undoing was the music round – name the artist and the song, and the difficult round about tourism, with such questions as which was the most visited city in the world in 2014… we did get that one right, London we guessed and that was it!
Great night, great pub!
