Five Boys

This famous advert seemed old-fashioned when I was young, it seems positively antique now. I don’t remember ever seeing the actual chocolate, maybe it was no longer made when I was young, however the adverts, metal plates fixed to walls could still be seen, especially in railway stations I seem to remember!

it just shows how ‘permanent’ products were then, that metal adverts would be made and screwed to walls… these days the constantly changing and re-branding of products mean that adverts have to change and evolve too. I suppose the message of the Five Boys is still fundamental to all product adverts… The customer is desperate for something, feels better (pacified) as the product becomes available to them, becomes excited in anticipation of acquiring the product, is thrilled to have the product (acclamation) and gains recognition and admiration for having the particular brand.DSCF7924Fry’s is actually a brand name of Cadbury’s, which has been taken over by Kraft… however Cadbury’s site has an interesting page on the history of the famous company:
