It won’t be long until we set off on our family holiday; four cousins and their families and our family are setting off to Kent this year. I can’t exactly remember when we first went away altogether, maybe it was 2003… or 2004? The first holiday was to Derbyshire and since then we have been to Cumbria, Yorkshire, Devon, Shropshire, Gloucestershire and last year we went to Norfolk.
Because there are so many of us (probably about 25 of us at any one time because people come and go because of work commitments, but altogether there will be more in total) we have to rent a large property with the right amount of bedrooms to accommodate us all in the right combinations.
Each night a different of the five families cook… but of course there are seven days in the week, so the first night we have sausages and jacket potatoes which virtually cook themselves, and on the last night we have gammon joints and again jacket potatoes and any leftovers!
We will be cooking on the Saturday night and we are making meatballs in a tomato sauce served with noodles and crusty bread and salad. It’s tradition to have a Sunday roast, and this year it is going to be lamb and pork. Other meals will be a fish something, a something pie and a casserole… all will be delicious that is guaranteed!
We don’t have deserts, we each bring cakes and have a slice of cake after dinner if we want… and cakes can also be taken on picnics when we go for days out! The lovely thing is we can all just do what we want so different groups of us will do different things, but there is always someone to keep you company whatever you want to do… even if it is just curl up in an armchair and read!

This sounds like a great deal of fun…as well as a good bit of work, but enjoyable none-the-less. Enjoy yourself my friend. 🙂
