Another old cookery book which cost 2/6 (12½p), ‘The Way To A Good Table – Electric Cookery’, from 1937 by Elizabeth Craig. as she says in her introduction:
It’s not an elaborate cookery book. it’s just a simple straightforward book which I’ve written to show you the easiest and quickest way to a good table.
I’ve no patience with roundabout or vague methods. I’ve less with out-of-date cookers. I don’t believe in cooking by guesswork. To obtain good results in a kitchen, methods should be simple, instructions should be definite and guess-work should be eliminated. then, given an up-to-date cooker, all your culinary problems will vanish.
The shortest way to a good table is “The Electric Way.”
