The Seahorse

When you go to a city you don’t know at all, you can book accommodation in a hotel chain and you know exactly what you will be getting, even down to the way the room is arranged and what it on the menu. That can be useful… but it is also quite boring as they are all exactly the same.

Booking into an independent hotel, guest house, bed and breakfast, pub (yes pub) means where you stay, your room your breakfast, your meals and your host will be really different from anything or anywhere else.

Some friends and I went to York, a city I’ve visited but never stayed in, and as we were going to see a band – the Mavericks of course, we wanted to stay near the venue. I found a pub called the Seahorse a few minutes away and booked in for two nights. What a great place! It is a delightful old pub with a lot of original features and excellent beer, and it is also a great place to stay over. Our rooms were large, comfortable and with everything you might want. The bed was super, the shower was hot, and there was beer downstairs! The breakfast was very good, cooked to order, and if as I  hope we go to York again, this is where we shall be staying!IMG_20150914_154433095_HDR[1]
