If you haven’t come across the amazing and talented singer Jonas Carping before then you are in for a treat… If you already know and love Jonas and have his first album All The Time In The World then you will be excited to know he has a new CD out called Cocktails & Gasoline.
Jonas is Swedish and as well as his solo work sings with The Glade; I first came across him a couple of years ago, quite by chance and was struck by his voice; then listening again to his songs, I really loved and appreciated his subtle and clever and meaningful lyrics, and unforgettable melodies. Some of his songs are challenging in a way, but more rewarding because of it. I haven’t yet got a favourite song from the Cocktails & Gasoline – I have deliberately not listened to any previews so there is that great experience of listening to a new album and wondering which will become favourites, which will only slowly grow on me, and which are intriguing and need more listening to.
There are eleven songs:
- The Last Approval
- Higher ground
- Damn Old World
- Peace of Mind
- Dusk of Dawn
- Dive
- You move in a Different Way
- Down to the Water
- Sleepless Nights Blues
- Fragrance of the Past
- Cocktails and Gasoline
They are all written by Jonas, words and music… what talent. Good luck to him, I hope he gets the success he deserves, and I hope he will come and tour England!
