Busy, busy, busy…

Having worked all my life, including holiday jobs from the age of about twelve, I find I am busier than ever now that I am not in paid work. This whole year has been busy but the last few weeks have been really, really busy! As well as writing my blog every day and working on my next novel

  • Thursday evening – daughter arrives home from Ireland, go straight to pub quiz
  • Friday – go to Bath with daughter,  daughter goes out with her brother, husband returns home from a tour of Northern England with Australian friend, go to pub
  • Saturday – go into town for daughter to look round having been away for fourteen months, spend the rest of the day sorting out daughters clothes and things to go back to Ireland with her, go to pub
  • Sunday – leave home just before seven, drive to Holyhead, catch the ferry to Dublin, drive up from Dublin to Portrush, arriving about 9:30
  • Monday – up at 5 for daughter to drive me to Belfast airport to fly back to Bristol, teaching my creative writing class in the afternoon, Australian friend cooks magnificent dinner, go to pub
  • Tuesday – up early to get to church hall where I teach Conversational English, in the afternoon Australian friend and I walk round the village taking photos, after dinner, pub quiz
  • Wednesday – up early so Australian friend can drive to Heathrow to return to Australia, washing, ironing, housework
  • Thursday – leave home at 5:15 to drive to King’s Lynn for a funeral
  • Friday – leave King’s Lynn at 8:35 to drive home, going via the village where my great-grandmother was born
  • Saturday – Gaelic class, go shopping to get fruit for making a fruit salad, in the evening go to friends for fish and chips and fruit salad and watching the All-Blacks vs France in the rugby world cup
  • Sunday – washing, ironing, tidying, pub to meet friends
  • today – bake gluten-free fairy cakes, meet book-club friends for coffee, teach creative writing to second group and eat gluten-free fairy cakes with the group one of whom is gluten-intolerant, 5:00 go to help friend preparing PowerPoint for her school class (thank goodness I don’t teach in school any more!)
  • tomorrow Conversational English, pub quiz
  • Wednesday… nothing… not one single thing… nothing at all… oh, apart from some washing, ironing, tidying…
